We are Hiring and Executive Director
The New Mexico Art Education Association is on a mission to grow our nonprofit to the next level of operations, while continuing our work that enhances digital/media and visual art education throughout the state of New Mexico K-12+ in public, private or charter schools, and art museums. We’re looking for a highly-skilled, dynamic leader to become our new Executive Director to help us fulfill this important work. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will oversee the strategic and operational efficiencies of our programs. This seasoned leader will not only understand current trends in art education, but will also have experience in developing and implementing successful professional development programs. Experience in managing collaborative groups is essential, and established relationships with local community groups is a plus. Above all, the Executive Director should be highly effective in a leadership role that requires clear communication skills. Objectives: Work closely with the Board Directors to assess and address issues affecting the organization's operations. Oversee daily operations of the organization, providing executive direction for program strategies and efficiencies, and compliance. Identify and address requirements for efficient operations, and maintain a strong culture that attracts and retains people while driving the organization’s mission Increase awareness of the organization by being the main spokesperson and liaison with local media, and other arts organizations. Develop an actionable plan for managing finances, and financial reports. Comply with all national and local regulations including the Attorney General's Office, state and federal taxes, and all grant reporting regulations. Responsibilities Create and implement a strategic plan for achieving goals and objectives set in collaboration with the Board of Directors, to be updated as needed. Meet annual funding goals, in partnership with Board of Directors, by securing financial support from grantors, foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government funding sources Work with board on and additional programs and events, and oversee all external communications, including website, advertisements, newsletters, and social media. Serve as the face of the organization and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand, and develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and expand programs. Build and lead an effective team that’s dedicated to fulfilling the organization’s mission through highly successful programs, membership development, community engagement, and continued funding sources. Manage members and clients whose experiences, cultures, and languages reflect the community served by the organization. Required skills and qualifications Seven or more years of experience in management and/or facilitation of programs, preferably with nonprofit and / or educational organizations Strong experience in public relations, marketing, and grant writing Knowledge of leadership for nonprofit organizations Proven success working with a Board of Directors Entrepreneurial mindset, with innovative approach to strategic planning Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization Preferred skills and qualifications Master’s Degree required, preferred in Art Education. Additional experience or certification in (or equivalent of) education administration or business administration, and a minimum of 6 years non-profit experience. Experience in arts and/or arts education in New Mexico. Be able to demonstrate being an active creative, an artist, or having a creative mindset. Experience serving on a Board of Directors. Experience in managing budgets over $20,000.
